What is Green Kids Auction?

GreenKidsAuction.com is a community auction website which provides an affordable way for parents to buy or sell gently used or new children's items, allowing parents to save money while saving the planet for our kids.

In order to help motivate parents to get involved, GreenKidsAuction.com has made it free to list items and only charges a nominal success fee when an item sells.

We believe that every action a person takes matters, and when steps are taken to reduce, re-use, and recycle our children's items, we can have a dramatic positive impact on the world our children live in.

Through its online forums, GreenKidsAuction.com is committed to creating an online community where parents can learn, grow, and share with one another.

Conscious shopping is now easier and more fun than ever!

How did we get started?

I am a Mom living in Montclair, NJ who is committed to having our children grow up in a healthy and happy environment. I believe that every action we take matters, and when compounded, we can have a dramatic positive impact on the health of our children, as well as the world we live in.

Green Kids Auction grew out of a very real need that I experienced as a parent in balancing purchasing great products for my child, while taking into consideration the consequences that high consumption is having on our planet. I also personally feel it is wasteful to purchase everything new, when babies only wear an outfit or play with a toy a few times before outgrowing them.

I wanted to find a way to strike a balance with buying some things gently loved, while still having the option of buying some eco-friendly things new. I realized that most parents don't mind swapping clothing and toys with friends, neighbors, and relatives or utilizing hand-me-downs with siblings. So I thought if this system of sharing works great within our network of family and friends, why can't I expand this great synergy with parents around the world?

Thanks to the advent of online auction technology, I am thrilled to finally make my vision a reality. Now all I need is your help with spreading the word about GreenKidsAuction.com to your personal network of parents.

I have assembled a team of amazing moms around the country to help support and grow this site, including Kerry Gillick-Goldberg in NY, as Director of Public Relations & Marketing and Jennifer Harris in CA, as Director of Product Management.
